Get Your Implants Using Patent ™
At INTEGRA, we use the premium-level Implant(tm) system by Patent(tm). It’s a well-tolerated ceramic solution that offers metal-free dentistry for patients with allergies and the chronically ill. It’s also incredibly durable and highly aesthetic, meaning it looks and feels just like natural teeth.
Getting The Take Right
To obtain the optimal take of Integra, it’s important to ensure the wound bed is clean and debrided. This may be facilitated by epinephrine, pinpoint electrocautery or thrombin spray. Once the wound has been thoroughly prepared, a sheet of Integra is placed onto it. It can then be stapled parallel to the wound edges or perpendicularly, depending on the extent of the wound.
Infections are a common cause of failure to take Integra, so it’s important to follow the proper surgical steps to prevent infection from occurring. The wound bed should be free of contamination, the area should be debrided to remove necrotic tissue, and any fluid collections should be evacuated. If there is any evidence of an infection, it’s important to treat this locally by aspirating the purulent drainage and irrigating five times daily with topical antibiotics.
